Our climate change monitoring project is officially underway! On February 16-17th, Helen and Kayla deployed four different groups of adult shellfish species on a raft at the Hakai Institute, off Quadra Island, BC. The main goal of this research project is to examine the impacts of ocean fluctuations on shellfish health and productivity. A massive thank you to the Tula Foundation and the Pacific Salmon Foundation for funding this project! And a special thanks to Fanny Bay Oysters, Taylor Shellfish Canada, Island Sea Farms, and We Wai Kai Seafood Corporation for providing the animals used in this project!
